The colour, the cut and all the bits in between
Chroma opened because we wanted to create a salon that felt a little more personal. A space where good hair, good taste and individuality could all sit together, without taking itself too seriously.
The Journal is an extension of that.
Hair, colour, style and everything we are currently thinking about.

Definitely not. But we do think a few people took it a little too far for a minute, and some shaggy cuts started drifting into ratty mullet territory, lol.
We still love a shag when it has shape, movement and enough weight left in the hair. Right now we are leaning towards softer layers, fuller outlines and a little more polish.

This one can be tricky because there are so many possible reasons for changes in hair density.
Two things we commonly encourage clients to pay attention to are iron levels and scalp health. A blood test can check things like iron and other possible deficiencies.
Your scalp also deserves the same attention you give the skin on your face.
Use good quality shampoo and conditioner, rinse thoroughly, avoid leaving heavy residue on the scalp and make sure the scalp is not staying damp for hours at a time.
-
No, haha. We get asked this all the time.
Cutting the ends of your hair does not change how quickly it grows from the scalp. What regular trims can do is keep the ends feeling fuller, remove splitting and help your haircut hold its shape while you are growing it.
So unfortunately, we would love to tell you that coming in every four weeks will make your hair grow twice as fast, but it won't.

Our preference is usually that you shampoo your hair the day before your appointment.
It gives us a good idea of how your hair naturally sits and how you normally wear it, while still making it easy for us to cut and colour.
No stress if it is a little oily. You definitely do not need to arrive freshly washed and blow dried.
-
You can, but we often recommend a three quarter or full head.
It sounds backwards, but placing colour properly through more of the head can give you a much softer grow out and help the colour last longer.
A half head can sometimes leave too much contrast underneath, which means you feel like you need another appointment sooner. Spending a little more on the initial colour can often give you another four to six weeks before you feel like it needs refreshing.

I love this one!
It’s all about gloss, richness, depth and variation. The colour should never feel flat.
You want subtle movement through the hair, beautiful shine and tones that work with the client's skin and natural colouring.
Then you add a big bouncy blow wave and suddenly you look like a movie star.
I think that is what makes it feel expensive, haha.
